Full course description
Join Karen Ahn for a session that provides an opportunity for school administrators, mentor teachers, coaches, and others to advance their observation and coaching practice to focus on supporting teachers to transform their teaching in ways that disrupt common patterns of inequity in classrooms. Participants will develop skill with non-evaluative coaching, recognizing moments of teaching that reproduce inequity in classrooms and how to intervene on them, facilitating learning for teachers through structured conversations, and more.
This asynchronous professional learning workshop is part of the Virtual K-12 Laboratory Classes and Professional Learning Workshops. The K-12 laboratory classes are structured to make it possible for educators, policymakers, and education advocates to engage directly in the close study of teaching practice in elementary mathematics. The program will provide participants with opportunities to delve into the complexity of teaching, explore and challenge what it means to use skillful teaching practice to disrupt injustice, as well as develop specific professional skills.
